NORMANDY, MO (KTVI)-The state of Missouri officially took over the troubled Normandy School District Tuesday. The first order of business was to swear in the five members of the state appointed board to operate the Normandy Schools Collaborative. Then they heard from state education officials about the transition to state control. They went over governing policies, fiscal management and school administration.

State education officials told the board members that they face an extraordinary and difficult assignment in turning around the unaccredited Normandy schools. One board member said their mantra should be how to offer incentives for children to learn.
