ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – Brentwood Police Chief Dan Fitzgerald says two fraud suspects put multiple lives in danger after trying to escape from police.  He said a male and female duo was wanted for trying to pass a bad check at a bank on Brentwood Blvd.

When police pursued the suspects the pair started speeding on Interstate 64.  Fitzgerald said police backed off.  He said the suspects even made a U-turn on the interstate, and were driving head on into traffic.

“Absolutely incredible no one was hurt,” said Fitzgerald.

The man and woman ran into a neighborhood just south and east of I-64 and McKnight.  The woman was arrested.  Bommarito Automotive Sky Fox showed the arrest live.

The male suspect tried hiding in a storm drain and waiting out police.  Police eventually climbed into the drain, handcuffed the suspect and pulled him out.  Fitzgerald said a St. Ann officer and a Clayton officer entered the drain from both ends.

“Those two guys volunteered to go in and go after the suspects, so kudos to them,” Fitzgerald said.

As of Monday night, police had not yet identified the male and female taken into custody.  Fitzgerald said charges could be filed against them on Tuesday.
