JEFFERSON CITY, MO (KTVI) – The You Paid For It team finally gets the head of the Missouri Department of Corrections to talk about its mistakes in the Cornealious Anderson saga. That was the case where Missouri waited 13 years before calling the Webster Groves man to begin serving his sentence for robbery.
Anderson, who was freed by a judge, was put in prison after his conviction in 2000. He later made bond.
But even though he was in the Corrections Department’s computer system no one there checked on his whereabouts for 13 years until a computer alert that it was time for his release. The Head of the Corrections Chief George Lombardi says new safeguards have now been put in places to keep the same thing from happening in the future.
He doesn’t point out that taxpayers saved money, because Anderson was free instead of being behind bars.
