JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO (KTVI)- ATF investigators along with police from Jefferson County, St. Louis City, and St. Louis County are on the scene in a Arnold-area mobile home park after what authorities say was a pizza delivery gone wrong. Lt. John Dolan with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department says that around 9:30pm Friday, a would-be customer at mobile home on Vogel Road shot a Papa John’s pizza delivery driver in the chest and back after calling in an order. Neighbors called 9-1-1.

A neighbor tells FOX 2 that the wounded driver came to his house, bleeding and asking for help.  That neighbor was applying first aid to the wounded man when the suspect and two others came to the neighbor’s house looking for the victim.

Police arrived and the suspected shooter led them on a car chase into Illinois then back into Missouri, driving along I-55, I-64, and I-170. The chase ended at I-170 and Page where police used spike strips. The suspect tried to run but was taken down by a police K9. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, during the chase, the suspect threw several homemade explosive devices out of the car.  They didn’t detonate and police were able to recover them.

Due to the use of would-be explosive devices and the fact that the chase crossed state lines, ATF agents along with the St. Louis County bomb and arson squad have been searching the suspect’s mobile home since midnight Saturday, looking for more explosives with a robot. Neighbors and media have been moved about two blocks from the home.

The delivery driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition. He is expected to recover.  The suspect was taken to the hospital to be checked out then released to police custody. Charges are pending.

Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer says the lead on the other two suspects has been investigated.
