ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – When it comes to education, there is no greater gift than the love of reading.

St. Louis County Library rolls out its new bookmobile this week, and spokeswoman Colleen Hall gives John Pertzborn a tour of the bookmobile on Fox 2 News in the Morning.

The Sweet Reads Bookmobile will bring books and other library materials directly to neighborhoods in and around Spanish Lake.

A library card is not required to use the Sweet Reads Bookmobile. The program works on the honor system and uses mostly donated or discarded library books.

Sweet Reads began in summer 2013 as a 7-week partnership with the Hazelwood School District to help prevent a loss of reading skills over the summer.

The new Sweet Reads bookmobile will feature over 2,000 books for kids, teens and adults. In 2014, Sweet Reads distributed more than 15,000 books to 3,100 patrons.
