CREVE COEUR, MO (KTVI) – The Major Case Squad is investigating a homicide in west St. Louis County after a University City man was gunned down outside a Creve Coeur movie theater Sunday night.

According to Lt. Jon Romas, a spokesman for the Creve Coeur Police Department, the shooting happened around11:45 p.m. outside the AMC Creve Coeur 12 Theater on Olive Boulevard, just west of Lindbergh.

Police found the victim, Ned R. Booker,  28, on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.  The Major Case Squad says that the shooting does not appear to be a random act of violence and that Booker was likely targeted.

A woman who said her friend was at a movie inside the theater last told Fox 2 she came out to see broken glass in the parking lot and that there was no mention of a problem to the guests inside the movie she was watching. Police said no one was evacuated from the building.

AMC Theatres tells FOX 2 that their thoughts are with the Booker’s family and that they are assisting the police investigation in every way.  The theater was closed on Monday. Guests who had purchased tickets in advance had their money refunded.
