DES PERES, MO (KTVI) – An attempted shoplifting at a West County store on Manchester, not far from West County Mall, leads to a police involved shooting and the arrest of two suspects.

The first crime scene was about six blocks east of here the entrance to Edward Jones on Manchester road. Des Peres police responded to a shoplifting in progress at a TJ Maxx store. Police used their patrol cars to block the exits of the TJ Maxx parking lot. After that is when the suspects driving a Dodge black Charger confronted police.

A witness tells FOX 2’s Andy Banker that the suspects were driving away from a shopping center with a TJ Maxx in the area. Officers blocked traffic in both directions to stop the suspect’s vehicle.  They were stuck at a light. Police got out of their vehicle to yell at the suspects to stop.

The eye witness says the suspect’s vehicle then started to weave through traffic and ran up on a curb.  They eventually ran the red light.  She says police did not have weapon’s drawn. The car continued with police in pursuit up Manchester.  That is when she lost sight of the vehicle.

The driver of the black Charger kept going west on Manchester road and came to a stop here near the entrance of the Edward Jones headquarters. Police said the one suspect who was shot in the arm has a non-life threatening injury. The other suspect was not injured. Both are in custody.

The Des Peres police sergeant who fired the shots was not injured.
