ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – How much does your zip code affect the course of your life? That is one of the questions being answered tonight at a meeting of the governor’s Ferguson Commission.

The meeting is being held at the University of Missouri St. Louis campus in the JC Penny building. This meeting marks the large public meeting held by the 16 member Ferguson Commission.

Some of the meetings have been raucous, others calm, but all have been interesting.

Monday night the commission is taking testimony from three experts presenting research about economic inequality in our region, including what your zip code says about the direction your life is likely to take.

The direction the commission is trying to take is to get as much information as possible so it can have a report ready by September to give to the governor with specific recommendations about how to make life better for people in economically challenged parts of the St. Louis area.

After the commissioners and the public hear testimony from the experts tonight they will open the mic to folks in the audience to ask questions and express their concerns.

The commission does not have a set number of meetings, but they are working down a list of topics developed at the first meeting. The next meeting is slated to be held on March 2nd, no time or location has been set.
