ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – The St. Louis Zoo is going green with the installation of a new solar power system the Safari Gift Shop at the south entrance to the zoo. The solar power panels are expected to power all the needs of the shop, saving the zoo $4,500 annually in energy cost and over $100,000 over 25 years.

StraightUp Solar, a St. Louis company installed the solar power system at no cost to the zoo, as part of the zoo’s green energy and recycling initiatives.
